Research

ResearchAs a leading metropolitan research university, the University of Central Florida has built research strengths in a variety of areas including education, photonics, engineering, simulation, computer science, alternative energy, and the emerging areas of nanoscience and life sciences. A strong spirit of collaboration has made UCF an attractive partner for many central Florida high-tech businesses that, in turn, have provided UCF students with real-world experiences.

UCF focuses its technical development on key institutes and centers that include the Institute for Simulation and Training, Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers, Florida Photonics Center of Excellence, Florida Solar Energy Center, Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center, Biomolecular Science Center, and the Nanoscience Technology Center.

For a fourth year in a row, the university researchers have surpassed the $100 million milestone in research funding. As research funding increases, discoveries continue to put its individual mark on the evolving concept of the metropolitan research university. We work with the community and the community works with us.
